Glasgow School of Art Library Chair
As part of the refurbishment of the Art School after the fire in 2014 which destroyed the Library and the west of the building, Bruce was commissioned to produce a reproduction of the original Library chair for possible reinstatement in the new library. Sadly as the restoration of the building was nearing completion it suffered a second catastrophic fire which has put the project on hold.
The granting of this commission, as well as the directors room and boardroom chairs from the Glasgow School of Art over the years, is an acknowledgement of Bruce’s experience, skills and trust to produce such important reproductions of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s furniture.
You recently made me an Ingram high back chair which was for my wife’s 60th birthday. I would just like to say how pleased I am with it. Not only are we pleased with the chair, but we are both impressed with your skills as a craftsman. Once again thanks for a great job, and thanks for making her birthday so special.
